A call to put kids on Atkins

The BBC is running a piece about the effect of the Atkins diet on children. Professor Julian Peto, of the Institute of Cancer Research, is in favor of putting overweight kids on the Atkins diet. The UK is experiencing a rapidly increasing rate of child obesity, which makes the debate even more interesting.

bq. In 1998, 9% of two to four-year-olds were considered obese – almost double the figure in 1989.

Last week we linked to a WebMD article that said low-carb diets are dangerous for kids. More research needs to be done.
