New juice ships with tagatose sweetener

The Pasco Beverage Company has launched a new “Light & Tasty juice beverage” that combines Gaio tagatose with sucralose instead of conventional sugar. Tagatose is a newer generation sweetener that is much more like table sugar:

bq. Tagatose is a natural low-calorie sweetener patented by Spherix Incorporated. It is being manufactured and sold as Gaio tagatose for food and beverage uses under license by Arla Foods Ingredients. Tagatose tastes and acts like table sugar, and can be used to improve the mouthfeel, sweetness, and flavor profile of products containing high intensity synthetic sweeteners.

The new juices comes in apple, fruit punch, and lemonade flavors with 70%
fewer carbs than regular fruit juices. Wal-Mart and other major retailers are now selling the juice.
