Panera Bread today announced the addition of six new lower-carb items to its menu. The new items, now available in all Panera Bread bakery-cafes nationwide, include three breads, two bagels and a breadstick:
"To make a lower-carb bread that delivers full flavor and excellent texture, we begin with a formula that is high in protein and fiber, then incorporate traditional artisan techniques, including our all-natural starter and an extended fermentation process of up to 18 hours," says Mike Marino, Panera Bread master artisan baker. "Baked from scratch each day using the same baking techniques that we use on our other award-winning artisan breads, these lower-carb breads have an authentic taste and texture that is superior to other lower-carb breads on the market."
