Fazoli's fighting low-carb craze

Posted by Luis F. Escalante on June 14 in Restaurants

Fazoli's, a fast-casual Italian restaurant with locations in 32 states, has hired well-known dietician Elizabeth Somer to "balance" the low-carb "fad" diets. A Fazoli's press release points to a recent article that forecasts the demise of the low-carb craze, and notes that the company hired her "to avoid the knee-jerk reactions other companies have succumbed to regarding the recent carb craze and still accommodate their customers' dietary needs."

"Elizabeth's stance on avoiding fad diets like Atkins and South Beach certainly made her more attractive to us as we were looking for a long-range program," said Julie Gondak, Fazoli's director of marketing.
