Red Lobster intros new ‘LightHouse Menu’

red-lobster-lighthouse.jpgRed Lobster has announced plans to unveil a new “LightHouse Menu” designed to provide guests with nutritional information for some of the company’s most popular menu items. Available at the more than 670 Red Lobster restaurants throughout North America, the new menu lists over 30 items, including an appetizer, numerous entrees, side dishes, dipping sauces and beverages, with the carb, calorie and fat content for each.

Some dishes on the new menu include a Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail Dinner (243 cal, 2 carbs, 3g fat), Snow Crab Legs (262 cal, 0 carbs, 4.5g fat) and Steamed Live Maine Lobster (145 cal, 2 carbs, 1g fat).

The American Heart Association recommends people eat seafood at least twice a week as part of a heart-healthy lifestyle. And recently federal advisers revising the government’s food pyramid recommended Americans eat more fish and fewer refined grains such as white bread. The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee said the amount of salmon and other fish containing heart-protecting Omega-3 fatty acids should be doubled to two servings a week.
