Pepsi Edge discontinued; Coke Zero vs. Pepsi One

pepsi-edge-coke-c2.jpgAfter lackluster sales for nearly a year, Pepsi has announced that it plans to dump Pepsi Edge from its product line by the end of the year. There’s still no word on whether Coke C2 will get the boot, as has been rumored for months.

bq. Marketed as a “mid-calorie cola” with half the sugar of its regular Pepsi, Pepsi Edge would be discontinued by the end of the year, according to a report in AdAge.com. A company spokesperson told the publication that it plans to strictly focus on its Diet Pepsi and Pepsi One products in the future.

Meanwhile, both Pepsi and Coca-Cola will battle once again as the two companines plan to debut new zero calorie diet colas this year.

bq. Coca-Cola is adding a fourth diet cola to its line this June with Coca-Cola Zero, with no calories, the company announced Tuesday. And this spring Pepsi is relaunching its one-calorie Pepsi ONE with Splenda sweetener rather than aspartame.
