Research group Opinion Dynamics has come out with a new study that finds 13% of Americans are cutting carbohydrate intake. Opinion Dynamics has been monitoring low-carb diets since December 2003 and takes monthly telephone polls to monitor popularity.
Some findings from the latest round:
* 13% of the public say they are on some type of a low-carb diet. This figure is similar to the height of the craze in early 2004.
* South Beach is now the most popular low-carb diet, though still more people claim to “make up their own”.
* There is less interest in low-carb products today than there was a year ago.
