New USDA food pyramid for kids

There is a new USDA food pyramid designed just for kids. No diet guideline can be without criticism though and detractors are already saying the government isn’t doing enough to help curb childhood obesity. Reuters covers some of the discussion:

bq. “My Pyramid for Kids doesn’t dare to discourage children from consuming so much soda, fast food, candy, and other junk foods,” said Michael Jacobson, executive director for the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Earlier this year the USDA updated its guidelines for adults. Both guidelines are carb heavy.
