A Low-Carb Diet For Your Pet? Veteranarians Say Yes

Filed under: In The News — @ April 2, 2006

That’s my fat cat named Smokey who like most animals is stuck inside of a house all day. Many people keep their dogs chained or locked inside all day while they are at work or off living life that these animals have little or no place to exercise.

Additionally, their diets consist of high-carb foods that keep making them fatter and fatter. The latest statistics show that one in four dogs has a weight problem that needs to be dealt with.

So how about a low-carb diet? Will it help?

According to one researcher who has examined this way of eating for humans, it CAN be effective for dogs, too. They’re working on cats, but the jury is still out on whether this can work for them as well. Sorry Smokey!
