So Utterly & Completely Off Topic, But How Can a Woman Not Know She’s 9 Months Pregnant When She Gains 30 Pounds?

Note from Connie: This is so completely and utterly off topic, but I like to indulge in that on this SUGAR SHOCK! Blog from time to time.

I mean no disrespect, but how can you not know that you’re pregnant when you pack on 30 pounds, even if you’ve quit smoking and eaten lots of “rich food” — and have “sharp stomach pains”?

Please enlighten me.

Even if you’re loading up on double fudge ice cream, extra-creamy cheesecake, and chocolate eclairs, how can that kind of weight gain compare to a growing, kicking embryo and soon-to-be baby boy? (FYI, I’m using a little imagination to conjure up “rich foods.”)

Thanks to MSNBC for alerting me to this off-the-wall, almost tough-to-believe, real-life story about a 26-year-old Washington woman, Amanda Brisendine, who experienced, as the Associated Press puts it, “several days of abdominal pain so intense that she called in sick from work.”

What baffles me is that the woman was already the mom of a 14-month-old daughter, Melodies, so she knew all about having a baby. But, as she told the AP, she didn
