Dr. Brian Wansink opens up about the 2010 dietary guidelines process

If you’ve been following my work over the past year, then you already know about my concerns regarding the forthcoming 2010 Dietary Guidelines that will tell the American people how they SHOULD be eating to be healthy. I was encouraged when my podcast interview guest today was appointed by former President George W. Bush to become the Director of the USDA’s Nutrition Policy And Promotion and especially when they asked for nominations to the 2010 Dietary Guidelines panel. But not surprisingly, there was not a single low-carber named to this panel and the committee has gone on to ignore much of the positive research that has come out about low-carb. Today we hear directly from the director himself in a bit of a tell-all about what is happening with the 2010 Dietary Guidelines panel.

In Episode 279 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from Cornell food psychologist Dr. Brian Wansink, author of the bestselling Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think. Hear him talk about the research he has been doing with food portions, the strange story behind how he became ABC World News’ “Person Of The Week,” and the seeming blackout of the low-carbohydrate experts on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines panel. If you’re at all interested in getting the low-carb message considered for the upcoming dietary recommendations, then you need to listen to this interview with Dr. Wansink. This is too important an issue for the low-carb community to ignore!
