Alan Cohen: New writer at CarbWire

Filed under: Site News — Jon Gales @ 1:12 am

I am excited about writing for CarbWire. My name is Alan Cohen. I’ve dieted on and off all my life, am familiar with the good moments and frustrating moments, and have been both successful and unsuccessful.

I plan to write about a variety of topics. Two areas of interest for me are eating healthy while on the road and the cultural aspects of food.

I work with people from many cultures. My coworkers eat many fruits, vegetables, grains, and fish. They are quite thin.

It is not my intention to dictate what other people eat, but it is interesting to observe the dietary habits of other cultures. It makes me think about what I eat. Hopefully this will teach me healthier eating habits.

I once learned that the key to being successful is to emulate the behavior of successful people. So, maybe the key to being thin is to follow the eating habits of thin people.

One of the toughest parts of dieting is adapting your new eating habits when you are at an event, on the road, or at work. Notice the strange looks you get when tofu is part of your meal?

What do you do when you are on the road? Keeping food in the car is not always practical. I will share information with you in future posts that will help you eat healthy and maintain your weightloss while you travel.

I enjoy sharing information with others. Please always feel free to share your thoughts and comments with me.

Sincerely,
Alan

* Should you cut your intake of Splenda?
* And lastly, we’re looking for four members to review Fry It Right

Forum spotlight: running, snacks and struggles

Filed under: Site News — Tags: — Jon Gales @ 1:30 am

After launching discussion forums earlier this week, we’ve had a great response. The fun is just starting so if you haven’t registered, stop by and do so today.

This is the first of a series where we’ll highlight some of the most interesting threads in the forum.

* Some of our readers are runners, and have been discussing the sport in our exercise forum.
* The various struggles associated with dieting are being discussed and there are some really great responses.
* What should low-carb dieters snack on? Well there are lots of possibilities.

There is a real community forming and we’re really excited about it growing. Dieting is so much easier when there is support.
